May 24th

Gosh, I can't believe May is almost over. I'm on my fourth week of being here at camp. Still love it. The stinkbug population has not decreased...i think i flush 10-12 down a day, at least.

Having my own house has made me learn more about myself..i seem to be more of a neat freak these days. I always have to have my house perfect, not sure why that is, but if it's not it literally will distract me.

I think i use more toilet paper/tissues on stinkbugs than i use for myself. seriosuly. theyre more like costing me money.

This week my cousin is coming for a few nights to hangout. Then this weekend is the yearly Father/Child overnighter for my church. So it should be a good week!:) I had off Monday since we had an Open House on Saturday. The open house went fantastic, it was such a wonderful day, perfect weather and we had 260ish people come and 33 weeks signed up. ! So, God is Good! SO glad it did not rain. :)

...now back to more caper registrations...ill probably be working on this for the next 2 days at least.

Sorry I haven’t updated in a while. Last weekend the staff went on a camping trip to Worthington State Park. It’s up in north Jersey. It was a great trip. We went hiking on Saturday which was an amazing hike. It was hard, but so well worth it in the end. There was this waterfall and some of our group went swimming and we just hung out there for like an hour. It was beautiful and made the hike well worth it.

On Monday I was able to get into the maintenance office to clean and organize it all. If you had seen it before, it was a disaster. But I spent the day going through files and cleaning the office and organizing tools and such into cabinets. It was great. Haha I love doing that!

This week we’ve been getting ready for the Open House on Saturday. I spent Tuesday cleaning the snack shop. I guess some animals got into it over the winter and it was a disaster. But it’s beautiful now. J

Things are crazy around here, but I’m enjoying it a lot. In the long run I think this is what I want to be doing, not necessarily at camp, though it would be fun. I love the atmosphere, and for some people, it’s not their thing, but personally, I love it right now. And I love to go back to my cabin and clean and relax. My job doesn’t even seem like a job. God’s been so good to give me this opportunity!

a little update to those interested in how I'm doing...

Things are better at the cabin. I (thankfully) have not had any more "problems". Mark sprayed for bugs the following day and I now have Raid, so if any bugs think they're coming in, they'll be sprayed! :)

Yesterday I had an extremely productive day. It was pretty exciting, actually. I organized the shelves in the office (they needed it BADLY) and I finished all the camper registrations that I needed to do! Yay! I also organized them alphabetically in binders. So yesterday=good working day. :)

I took a walk last night. It was so nice out. Camp is so peaceful right now. It's so nice!

May 9

Yesterday was an interesting day, to say the least. I woke up to a fly infestation. Yes, I killed about 15 flies, with more to go. After work I came home to find at least 10 flies on my upstairs window. So I started slapping and killing them. I broke the window. So then I had to go and get cardboard and masking tape and tape that all up. Later, I wanted to go and take a bath, but came back in and my floor was soaked…it didn’t overflow, but there’s caulk on my bathtub, meaning I guess, that it leaks. So then I had to clean all that up. I showered and when I got out I saw this huge bug. It was gross. Now, I’m definitely not a bug person. I hate them, a lot. And when there are really gross bugs I tend to freak out and cry (but not with tears, just my voice) and I get sick and feel as though I’m going to throw up. (I found a moth the other day and started to do that-I’m deathly afraid of moths and they make me sick even thinking about them). So, that what happened. I didn’t know what to do, I tried killing it, but it wasn’t in a good spot to do that, plus I was freaking out. So, I called my mom, then texted Mark (since he lives right next door). He came over with Josh and Drew and he told me it’s some kind of roach, like a wood roach, and it went behind the trim of the door. So, he slapped it and crushed the roach.

yeah....tears were shed and it was a rough day...but I know God's going to use this summer to grow me...

The Cabin is Done !

After 5 1/2 hours of cleaning, moving things from the dorm to the cabin, and setting up, my cabin is finally complete. I slept there last night. Still needs a few finishing touches here and there and some things need to be bought but other than that, it's done. :) I showered as well and did my first load of laundry (all by myself! (for those who don't know, I've never done laundry until last Sunday.))

Pictures to be posted sometime this weekend. :)

Thursday Update

All day Tuesday and half of Wednesday was spent on this. Monday I had to correct all the mailing addresses and Wednesday we addressed these envelopes (with a machine of course!) then stuffed them with 10 brochures, signup sheet, and a dvd, and finally sealed them. And Wednesday we finished and organized them all for the Post Office. Altogether there were 720.

After everything was completed with the mailing, I got to organize my desk:)

Tuesday, May 3, 2011

Today marks my second day of work. Yesterday was not bad at all and today has been easy...answered the phones for the first time..a bit nerve-racking, but it's going well. I'm loving it a lot. I get an hour break every day which I could totally get used to. Sure beats those 15-20 min breaks (depending on how fast you got your food) at Chick fil A. :0)

I start at 8:30am, we have staff devos at 9am, lunch from 1-2pm, then end my day at 5pm.

Tonight Lorie and I will be cleaning out my cabin. I'm staying in the dorms right now...it should only last a few days. I'll definitely get some pictures up when it's complete. It's adorable! Has a living room, bathroom, kitchen, and my bedroom is a loft upstairs.

I love being at camp. It's almost a second home to me. It's weird, there's a feeling I get when I'm here. I grew a lot in my walk with Christ back in 2009 when I was a counselor. I've been coming here since I was like 4 or 5 years old, at least. So many great memories. :)
